
before Scheduling/Contraindications
- Avoid Aspirin, ibuprofen, NSAIDs, Vitamin E, Fish oil. These blood thinners can increase bruising. Usually, you would stop taking these one week before your appointment.
- Accutane use has to be over six months ago.
- Retin-A(retinol) d/c one week prior.
- It is important for us to know if you are on any antibiotics as they often are more photosensitive.
- Vacationing? Upcoming sports events? Lake days? Avoid sun exposure for two weeks after.
- NO- Tanning or sunless tanning, for 4 weeks prior. The increase in pigment can absorb more light and lead to a burn.
- If you are prone to getting cold sores, take your Rx antiviral medication, such as Valtrex, the day before your treatment. Reschedule your treatment if you have active cold sore breakout- a treatment could spread the virus to other areas on your face.
- Alcohol is also a blood thinner so eliminate that from your diet immediately before your procedure. Avoid for day of procedure and for best results the day after too. Plan around events.
- Void strenuous exercise after the procedure for the rest of the day.
- Do not exfoliate for at least 2 weeks
- Ice can be used after procedure for swelling or discomfort.
