Frequently Asked questions
How long does it take?
The procedure time varies between 45 minutes to two hours. Depending on the particular procedure and body areas being done.
How many treatments will I need?
Treatment plans vary person to person. There are several factors that play into the advised treatment plan.
Does it hurt?
Depending on the procedure being performed the discomfort level varies. The Moxi is a bit more “spicy” as we describe it but there is a numbing agent applied one hour prior to procedure. For any BBL treatment, no numbing agents are used because the clients input on temperature is important and critical to a smooth, successful outcome. The BBL Hero Laser is much quicker than other IPL lasers, minimizing the time of discomfort.
Can I put make up on after?
Yes, you can. You will likely have some redness and/or swelling in the first 24 hours.
What is ‘post-laser care’ like?
Sunscreen should be worn daily. Avoid sun exposure for two weeks. Do not drink alcohol for 48 hours after. Avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours as well. These recommendations are for best results. Skin may feel a little warm or swollen, typically not very noticeable. Some clients have compared to a sunburn.
Do’s & Don’ts leading up to an RRA appointment:
Do’s
- Wait a minimum of two weeks after recent neuromodulator injections (Xeomin or Botox) before scheduling BBL/Moxi or Spa Treatment.
- Discontinue the use of products containing active ingredients like Retinol (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Vitamin A), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy acids), LHAs (Lipo-hydroxy acids), and Benzoyl Peroxide at least 7 days prior to treatment.
- If you are prone to or have a history of cold sores or fever blisters and are undergoing laser treatments around the mouth, consider starting an oral anti-viral agent like Valtrex (or equivalent) at 500 mg twice a day, beginning 1 day before treatment and continuing for 5 days after treatment (total of 7 days).
